I decided to sit down and write a piece on Ron Paul. Why you ask...after all, I know his cult followers will have some contrived response to anything mentioned in this article. But, I have some questions for the Libertarian who masquerades as a Republican.
His supporters always talk about their guy NOT being an Isolationist, but that he doesn't believe involved with every conflict across the world. Now, I agree with this assessment, but his irresponsible responses to the attacks of 9/11 and his vocal opposition to US foreign policy is not only dangerous, but very naive. So, a few questions for the Neville Chamberlain of this era:
First, Ron Paul is critical of our engagement in Afghanistan. In fact, our intervention in the Middle East prompted a response from Mr. Paul that was used by our enemies on Al Jazeera radio. His supporters undoubtedly will have some phony response to these comments being used by our enemy as propaganda against the United States. Bottom line, we can not have a guy running for President whose words are used against those who seek our destruction. Of course, 9/11 was the fault of the US, so I guess Ron Paul doesn't mind being quoted by terrorists.
More to the point: when talking to some of his most rabid supporters, I said that Paul voted to go to Afghanistan to fight the War on Terror. Being brilliant, these Paulies said that we can not "fight terrorism". Man, they are smart. Terrorism is something used to instill fear in people, but we can still fight those who seek to bring terrorism to our shores. This is a tough concept for them to grasp, I know. Also in the same conversation, the supporter also told me that Paul agreed to go after those responsible for the attacks of 9/11, but that he really didn't vote for the war in Afghanistan? Wait, what? He wanted to get those who attacked our country, but didn't know that we were going to Afghanistan to do it? Mr. Paul, those that actually attacked our nation died in the attacks, so you won't find them to "bring them to justice". But second, how you vote for "get those responsible for the attacks" and yet, criticize the way we fought them? What would Mr. Paul have wanted us to do? Find them, give them due process and lock them in an American prison so that they get special rights only granted to American citizens? Drop bombs on the countries responsible...oh, wait, no country was responsible, so never mind. But, he would have used Special Operations forces to get the bad guys. Oh really? Is this why Ron Paul whined when we sent our Navy Seals to go and kill Bin Laden (get ready for their conspiracy theories about this too)? Ron Paul has no clue.
The next issue focused on how Ron Paul and Benjamin Netanyahu feel the same about US aid an influence in Israel. Paul, who can't hold a candle to Bibi, claims that Netanyahu says that they can take care of themselves. While yes, Bibi said this, in typical Paul fashion he didn't use the quote in context. PM Netanyahu was responding directly to the misguided policies of the Obama Administration. Ron Paul knows this, but he has to use Netanyahu's words to make it seem like he really ISN'T throwing Israel under the bus. This being said, as President, if Israel attacked Iran, would Paul support the Israelis? If Netanyahu called and asked for American assistance, would Ron Paul heed the call? If Iran overruns Iraq, what would Paul do? Since he tries to convince us that Radical Islam isn't a threat, he would do nothing. He would essentially be Nero while our enemies are defeated and the Middle East becomes increasingly dangerous, not only to Israel, bu to the US. The answer is, quite frankly, that Ron Paul would do nothing.
What would Ron Paul have done to bring down the Soviet Union? Nothing. Lord knows, he wouldn't have put Pershing missiles in Eastern Europe. We know he would have taken a hands off approach while the Red Army gained strength? And, what if he was around for the Second World War? Would Ron "Neville Chamberlain" Paul have gone to war? Or, would he have let Europe and our allies fend for themselves as the Nazis ran roughshod over Europe? Would he have come to the said of Britain or watched from the sidelines since "Germany didn't attack the US". My guess is that Ron Paul would have stood up on the floor of the House screaming about the FED, Liberty, the Constitution and how the US was causing all of the problems in the world.
Bottom line, these are questions that need to be answered. No, we can not and should not be in every engagement (most notably, Libya). However, rather than acting like his friends in Code Pink, by openly criticizing US foreign policy, Ron Paul should actively support our efforts in the fight against our enemies. I know this is a pipe dream as Mr. "if we simply left the Muslims alone we wouldn't have been attacked" has no clue about how to protect our nation. This, among other reasons that I will address in later blogs, is a key reason that I will NEVER support Mr. Paul for President. Now, let the Paulie attack dogs start spinning. This should be fun.

Ok, folks, since Republicans are simply incapable of explaining this to the people of this nation, let me try my best to refute the Obama/Alinsky/Marxist Democrats view about taxing the rich. I hope that a few of those mind-numb hippies in the OWS movement take notes as well...this should help you understand a bit of basic economics and common sense (note: this is a VERY short blog and I will flush out the economy more in a later post).
I want to be VERY clear about something right off the bat: FIFTY percent of the people in the country PAY NO TAXES! There, I said it...now, I hope Republicans will repeat this message every time Obama says that Republicans will only give tax breaks to the wealthy. More to the point: WE CAN'T GIVE TAX BREAKS TO THOSE WHO PAY NO TAXES!! So, for Liberals and those smelly defacators in the OWS movement, this is basically all you need to know.
So, again, let me write this as slowly as possible in order for it to sink into the heads of the people in this nation who believe the class warfare rhetoric of the Left. If you are upset about the 1% getting the tax breaks, it is because the 1% PAYS the MAJORITY of the taxes in this nation. It is, again, also impossible to CUT TAXES for those who PAY NO taxes. So, next time you hear the Democrats state this claim, tell them to go and shove it!

Fighting Back
Note to ALL Republican candidates (both currently running for President, and those who seek higher office):
I know there is an unwritten rule that says we, as Republicans must "remain above the fray", that we must "take the high road and stay out of the gutter" against our Marxist Democrat opponents. well, with what we are witnessing in this Presidential election cycle, it is time to echo what I have been saying for awhile now:
WE MUST fight back! Period! Enough of this cowering in the corner when the Democrats threaten to attack! Enough throwing our candidates overboard when the media launches FAKE attacks against that candidate. If the Democrats want to play dirty to win, then we need to do the same. WE don't need to sink into gutter politics per se, but we do need to fight like hell to protect ourselves.
For instance, in the fight to nominate Justice Sotomayor, Republicans bent over backwards to accommodate the Justice "because she was Hispanic and a woman". Republicans didn't want to "offend" anyone. Again, we proved to be weak, and we nominated a woman who, by all accounts, did NOT deserve to be on the Court. Yet, Conservatives remained silent. Now, the Democrats on the other hand, tore down Robert Bork and again tried to do the same to Clarence Thomas. They were successful once, but failed the other time. Again, silence from many Republicans.
Republicans now control the US House of Representatives after the people put us into power and gave us a mandate to govern. Yet, what have we accomplished? NOTHING! Oh sure, we have threatened to impeach Eric Holder over Fast and Furious, but nothing has come of this investigation yet. In fact, nothing has really been said about this scandal outside of a few Conservative Congressman. Too, in the budget fight, the Democrats got the Republicans to agree to levy taxes on the rich in exchange for a payroll tax cut. They screamed louder, and we caved....AGAIN.
Then, we have the case of Herman Cain, an outsider with a tremendous story and a tremendous background. He was tarnished, WITHOUT proof by the media establishment, and many REPUBLICANS jumped ship and piled on Mr. Cain. Instead of fighting for our candidate, the Party and many Republican voters once again cowered silently in the background. Now, Mr. Cain has dropped out of the race.
Well, I for one am sick and tired of "playing nice" with the media and the Democrats. I am even more tired of being told by our "intellectuals" (I use that term loosely) that we must "be above the fray". No wonder Republicans keep losing elections. Well, I DIDN'T GET THE MEMO!! Enough is enough. If the Republican establishment is going to sit idly by while the Democrats fight dirty, then so be it. I, on the other hand, will engage on every front possible. Note to those who want us to remain civil: SHUT UP ALREADY!

The past...
A great philosopher once said "If we neglect the mistakes of the past, we are doomed to repeat them in the future". Boy, I think he was talking about the Republican Party. I know all of the Republicans who hide behind Reagan's 11th commandment will hate this article (and others coming out in the near future), but sometimes, the truth hurts.
Leave it to the Republican Party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We have some good candidates to run against Obama, but unless Bachmann is the nominee (and this IS NOT meant as an endorsement for her candidacy), our party will once again be the Party of the Old, White Man. Not that this is a bad thing per se, but we had a chance to break this mold with Herman Cain. Yet, many Republican "experts", so-called Conservative activists and political insiders quickly threw Cain under the bus, and they did so at their peril.
But, forget about the racial aspect for a moment, and let's focus on the more important issue. Once again we are faced with a decision: vote for another 4 years of the worst American President in history, or hold our noses and vote for a "Conservative" Republican. Rush Limbaugh, one of my heroes, says that Conservatism is a force that can not be defeated. That in the arena of ideas, Conservatism will ALWAYS win. It is only when we vote for moderates in the "mushy middle", that we lose elections. And, Rush is right. When Republicans vote for Conservatives, great things happen. After all, the last great Conservative we elected was Ronald Reagan and he won in TWO electoral landslides. But more importantly, he rescued America from a debilitating Carter Presidency. The reason for this: Reagan EMBRACED his Conservative values. HE fought for them and he never apologized for these beliefs.
Now, we have "Conservative" pundits and writers who believe that we should abandon Reagan and the Conservative ideals that made him great. Instead, they say, we should start supporting and electing hand-picked, establishment approved, moderate Republicans who can "get along with the Democrats and get independent voters". Every time we do this, however, we lose elections. Even when we win (like Bush twice) we win by VERY thin margins. When Newt and the Republicans had the Republican landslide of 1994, they won as Conservatives. When Republicans ran as Tea Party candidates, they won in 2010. Yet, when we ran as moerates, as weenies who are no different than Democrats, we lost our majority. We lost when RINO George Bush ran against Clinton. We lost when RINO Bob Dole ran against Clinton. We lost AGAIN when RINO John McCain ran against President Obama.
We are faced with the same problem today. Do we simply elect the Republican chosen for us by the MSM and the Republican establishment and let the chips fall where they may (which, inevitably, will be defeat), or do we fight to elect true Conservative candidates who will CRUSH Obama in the general election? Let's say that a moderate Republican beats Obama...will this person govern as a Conservative or "reach across the aisle" and cave, like usual, to the wishes of the Far-Left Democrats in Congress? More importantly, do we trust this candidate with nominations to the Supreme Court? I don't.
I will grant you that this year might be different than past years. It is entirely possible that ANY Republican (save a few) will beat Obama. But, I don't want any more McConnells, Boehners, Grahams or McCains in Congress or the Oval Office. Now is the time to fight. Now is our time to win!

A wolf in sheeps clothing...
There was a rumor circulated in the MSM that my candidate of choice, Herman Cain, would come out and endorse Newt Gingrich for the Republican nomination to run against President Obama. To Herman, and all of the other Republicans who support Newt, I say BE CAREFUL. The expression "you can't judge a book by its cover", well, much like the case with Ron Paul, you can't judge Newt by sound bytes in a debate. Yes, Newt is well spoken, yes he has been feisty in the debates, YES he was speaker of the House who ushered in the Conservative Revolution of 1994 and the Contract with America and yes, his ACU rating was very high. The problem with Newt is, well, Newt. Forget his personal baggage for a moment (believe me, his dirty laundry will be aired in October before the election), let's focus on his ACTUAL record and determine if this is the man that Republicans want to ride to defeat in November.
So, let's start with his most recent "Conservative" stances. Recently, he raised the ire of pro-life Republicans when he flip-flopped on abortion from conception (especially when trying to use "Clintoneque rhetoric about his defense of embryonic stem cell research). Like good old John Kerry, Newt was for it before he was against it. Then, let's take his stance on immigration...he said he is a solid anti-amnesty candidate who recently signed a pledge to build a fence along the entire border with Mexico! Now, this position is interesting considering that the "Smartest guy in the room" has bashed his "ideological friends" for having good ideas in theory, but lacking sense in practice. Not only did he flip-flop on this issue as well, but couldn't it be said that it is simply unfeasible to build a fence along the ENTIRE border with Mexico (I am a strong proponent of a fence, but I just want Newt to be consistent). Yet, I digress: in a recent debate Newt said his plan was the only "humane" stance on immigration...basically shilling for amnesty. Again, I reminiscent of John Kerry. Don't worry though, Conservatives, the Democrats approve of his position!
Now, let's run through more evidence of Newt's recent "Conservatism": Newt endorsed Liberal Dede Scozzofava in NY-23 over the Conservative candidate while slamming his Conservative critics. Here Newt was only focused on electing a Republican, but NOT a Conservative who COULD have won the race. Then, Newt also endorsed INDIVIDUAL MANDATES REQUIRING PEOPLE TO BUY HEALTHCARE....this is a core idea of Obamacare. This is NOT a Conservative idea. To follow up on this healthcare battle, Newt called the Conservative health care proposal "Right win social engineering"...again, backing INDIVIDUAL mandates. Yet, He claims he will completely dismantle Obamacare. So, which is it Newt?
Newt also slammed the Paul Ryan budget plan, criticized Sarah Palin for calling Obama a "Community organizer" and he flip-flopped on the issue of Libya (first supporting it, then opposing it). Oh, and who could forget that commercial where he was sitting on the couch with Pelosi talking about man-made global warming. Now, that was bad enough, but now Newt says it was a mistake when he originally said that he would NOT apologize for making this ad. Finally, Newt cashed in by supporting subsidies for big business (ethanol in particular). I am not even going into the Gingrich/Sharpton education tour, or the Kerry/Gingrich tree hugging fest. But hey, why should Conservatives worry; Newt is a great debater, right?!
Friends, this is just a small insight into the true Newt Gingrich. While he talks a good game for some audiences, he has proven to be "his own man" for other audiences. Perhaps this is one of Newt's problems: he HAS to be liked by everyone. I know Newt and his supporters (all of the weak "quick to jump on the winning campaign" Republicans and faux Tea Party leaders) will argue that Newt is Conservative...while bashing Romney for taking the Liberal positions on many issues. Newt and his supporters are, with all due respect, hypocrites. Republicans, BE CAREFUL electing Gringrich as your standard bearer. He is a a chameleon, a charlatan and worse, I fear a man with no conviction. To note, Newt is smart...but he seems to throw ideas against the wall to see what sticks. Along with his considerable personal baggage, his ties to Fannie and Freddie and his record, Newt will be a dream for Obama in 2012. Don't get me wrong, if Newt is the Republican nominee, I will support him against Obama. But, Please friends, before jumping aboard the Newt express, please research this man and his record...what you hear isn't always what you will get.

The Phoenix
Friends,
In my last blog post, I made some predictions and observations. Namely, that Cain would not drop out of the race and that he would win the nomination. Well, some would say "What a difference a day makes". Well, I was gone most of the day yesterday doing some work, and when I called my wife, she told me the news about Herman. I was sad, angry and a bit betrayed by a political process that is broken, fickle voters and by the end of a campaign that I believed in to my core. I thought yesterday that Cain was finished, and by all rights, he may well be. He did, after all, say he was "suspending" his campaign.
Then, a strange thing happened in my mind. I woke up this morning with the strange belief that this was not the end for Cain, but merely a break. My thought is that he would not have opened up a new headquarters if he was done. He would not have gotten on the ballot last last week if he didn't want to continue. We would have heard members of his team running for other campaigns. It is early, but none of that has happened. Even more interesting, Cain's support remains strong on outlets such as Facebook and his wife created "Women for Cain". He is even winning the most recent Fox poll on preference among voters. Why would Gloria have done this is Cain was really quitting? It doesn't make sense. Now, I could be wrong (and I have been wrong before), but here is my take on Cain: he isn't done with this race. Quite to the contrary. Without knowing details, I find it hard to believe that his family, despite the pain, would ask him to quit. This country and its fate is far to important to leave to regular politicians. So, what will he do? My thinking is that he and his legal team will use every avenue possible to go after the accusers. He will sue and reclaim his good name. Then, once that happens, I believe you will see a newly re-energized Cain running full throttle for the Republican nomination.
Perhaps this is wishful thinking, and perhaps this is what I want to believe. After all, his was the one candidacy that I was the most excited to be a part of...there hasn't been another in my recent memory. If I am wrong, so be it. I will pick a nominee and then support whomever runs against Obama. But for now, I believe the Cain train has merely pulled into the station for refueling...this race, folks, is FAR from over.
In my last blog post, I made some predictions and observations. Namely, that Cain would not drop out of the race and that he would win the nomination. Well, some would say "What a difference a day makes". Well, I was gone most of the day yesterday doing some work, and when I called my wife, she told me the news about Herman. I was sad, angry and a bit betrayed by a political process that is broken, fickle voters and by the end of a campaign that I believed in to my core. I thought yesterday that Cain was finished, and by all rights, he may well be. He did, after all, say he was "suspending" his campaign.
Then, a strange thing happened in my mind. I woke up this morning with the strange belief that this was not the end for Cain, but merely a break. My thought is that he would not have opened up a new headquarters if he was done. He would not have gotten on the ballot last last week if he didn't want to continue. We would have heard members of his team running for other campaigns. It is early, but none of that has happened. Even more interesting, Cain's support remains strong on outlets such as Facebook and his wife created "Women for Cain". He is even winning the most recent Fox poll on preference among voters. Why would Gloria have done this is Cain was really quitting? It doesn't make sense. Never Underestimate the Power of We the People
Folks, lets be honest about something, these accusations against Herman Cain are witch hunts and, quite frankly, I am appalled that so many Republicans are falling for the MSM hit job. What troubles me is that, if Herman drops out of the race, the political class, the Establishment if you will, will have destroyed an honest man for the sake of partisan politics. The media and the politicians will have won. I will do my best not to let this happen. So, in the interest of fairness, let me state here that I am a Cain supporter. I don't plan on getting off of the Cain train and I am going to give my thoughts about what is going on politically and what will REALLY happen in this race.
As I said earlier, I am a Cain fan. If he had an affair, I honestly do not care. It is the height of hypocrisy for the media in this country to give Liberals a pass on these issues, while tearing down a good and decent man. Furthermore, it is the even more interesting that the media hasn't mentioned a word about Newt Gingrich and his past. I will discuss this more in a later blog. But, sticking with this theme, it galls me that so-called Conservatives who jumped off the Cain train are so easily swayed by the media. It is also interesting that they dump Herman because of alleged marital indiscretions, yet flock in droves to a man who is a noted womanizer (Gingrich).
I do not want to make this post a bash fest against Newt, however. He is a good candidate but, I fear, fatally flawed and NOT a Conservative. I am going to make some BOLD predictions in this article regarding my observations about this campaign and about the future of the primaries. I will then go into detail about WHY I believe the way I do.
First Prediction: Cain will NOT leave the race. Perhaps this is more wishful thinking than anything else, but I have a hard time thinking that Herman will quit because of these things. His volunteers are still motivated and strong, his fundraising numbers are coming back up and most of his supporters are still strong (only the feeble minded have dropped off). Furthermore, after sitting down with his family this weekend, I believe they will all rally together and tell Herman that he MUST stay in this race. After all, he is fighting for the future of his beloved family, but he must fight on so that Americans know that the political ruling class will NO LONGER speak for WE the PEOPLE.
Second Prediction: The White House, with initial Republican backing, are behind the smears of Cain. Cain's team will tie together lose ends and then sue the pants of the accusers.
OBSERVATION: Herman Cain is the ONLY candidate that the media and the White House fears. I know this is hard for some Republicans to understand, but anyone who knows politics will understand this. If Cain wasn't a threat, why would the allegations have come out? Why even bash a man who stood no chance in the elections? Methinks, the Obama people are scared. Which brings me to Another observation and then a FEARLESS prediction:
Observation: Cain is doing MUCH better than people want to believe he is doing. I know, I know, the polls say otherwise, but this doesn't jive with reality. First of all, these polls jumped to a HUGE lead for Newt almost immediately. Why? He is now doubling up Romney and in some cases, doing better than this. I find these results problematic...not because Cain is losing, but due to the sudden surge of Newt seemingly out of thin air. I do not, for one minute, believe that Newt has the support of 50% of Republicans nationwide and I do not for a minute believe the numbers in the states polled. I think Cain is still running first or second for one obvious reason: he just got smeared again. This begs the question, why would someone come out and attack Herman with these allegations if he was indeed plummeting in the polls? If they have done enough to destroy him, why keep it up...unless, in reality, he wasn't destroyed and still doing really well among voters.
This leads to my prediction: Cain will win IA and roll into SC and FLA with the big Momentum,. I know it seems far fetched and possibly a pipe dream, but I will give you the reasons that I think this will happen. Organization: Herman has it in loads in IA. Anyone knows that the Caucuses are about getting people there and having a ground game. Cain has a fleet of people ready to go. I am not sure Newt will have the same organization. Too wit, Newts past indiscretions and his immigration stance will hurt him among IA voters. Also, Cain's ads are hard hitting and geared directly toward toward the voters of IA...these should help. We just found out that Newt failed to get substantial delegates in NH and failed to get on the ballot in MO...this doesn't bode well for the upcoming elections. More to the point: Cain is liked by people. Once he focuses his message back on the economy, he will rise. I know the political punditry say that "Cain is done". Well, nobody had given Cain a chance before the FLA straw poll...and Cain won big. This, along with his support on the ground, is a key reason that I think he will prevail (and leave it to Newt to implode). Cain might have lost some support, yes, but can he still, definitely. Remember. Herman wasn't expected to win FLA and did. Nobody gave him a chance then, and they aren't giving him a chance now. I can't wait to see Cain rise like a Phoenix and win IA.
